Central Region Records First Cases Of Monkey Pox

A Disease Control Officer of the Mfantseman Municipal Health Directorate, Mr Danso Dominic has revealed that, Cenrtral region has recorded the first confirmed cases of the deadly monkey pox virus.

Mr Danso, however disclosed to AfricaNewsArenaGh.com that the first confirmed case was recorded in the Mfantseman Municipality.

He said Monkey pox is caused by a virus, a member of the same family of viruses as smallpox, adding that symptoms often include fever and rash, but the infection is usually mild.

He added that the mode of transmission is same as COVID-19, and further called on the residents that all safety protocols of the COVID-19 virus must be ensured with immediate effect across the region.

Mr Danso Dominic also disclosed that, the victim is under treatment while 34 contact tracing has been identified as yesterday, August 4, 2022.

He urged the public to exercise restraint as health professionals are investigating to unravel any mystery regarding the virus.

He called on residents to stop self-medication and should regularly visit the hospital for proper examination and medication.
