One person has been declared dead upon arrival at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital as eight other individuals sustains various degree of injuries in an accident involving four vehicle at Eguase near Cape Coast in the Central Region.
The avoidable car crash which had two males and six females turning casualties to it aside its deceased fellow who was onboard to a Mercedes Benz C300 vehicle, took place on Sunday 30th October, 2022.
In an engagement with the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) after the incident narrated to Rainbow News they received a distress call as at 14:08hrs (2:08pm) and arrived at the scene on 14:14hrs (2:14pm) only to discover the casualties had already been rescued and sent to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital.
One of the vehicles which in the process caught up fire was still smodering hence the dispatched Fire Service personnels aid in extinguishing it.
According to eyewitness, unregistered Mercedes Benz C300 with number DV 7021 H was coming from Mankessim direction towards Cape Coast on a top speed and tried overtaking a car infront of it but ran into the Toyota Hiace with registration number CR 1177-20 which was carrying passengers towards Mankessim (opposite direction).
The Mercedes Benz veered off, burst into flames and ran into Hyundai Taxi with registration number CR 1019-20 which was parked by the roadside and it also hit Toyota Camry with registration CR 463-18 which was also parked.
The Mercedes Benz burnt completely, whiles the Toyota Hiace was severely damaged and the Hyundai and Camry partially damaged.
The Fire Rescue Team called in the Police to take custody of the salvaged items at the scene after which they cleaned the road off the blood of the victims that covered the road.
Speaking in an interview to the Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the Central Regional Fire Service division, ADO II Abdul Wasiu Hudu confirmed to Accra-UK based Rainbow Radio reporter Eric Annan, the accident occured through the fault of the unregistered Mercedes Benz C300 driver who tried journeying on an overtaking with top speed within a curve while having an unclear road with the car infront of it, having the car run into a Toyota Hiace with registration number CR 1177-20 which was carrying passengers towards Mankessim.
Both the deceased and injured victims are still at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital.
