Fight Against Teenage Pregnancy In The District — Disease Control Officer Tells Parents

Mr Emmanuel Kwaku Sarfo, the District Disease Control Officer who doubles as the interim Director of the Ajumako Enyan Essiam Health Directorate has called on parents, government authorities and other Stakeholders to fight against teenage pregnancy in our various societies to allow the girl child at school going age further their education.

The District Disease Control Officer according to the report gathered stressed that teenage pregnancy has increased in the area and when policies are not implemented can prevent young girls not to pursue their education.

He cited that some of the innocent young girls are victims of rape and can be infected with Sexually Transmitted Diseases.

He made this statement in an interview with AfricaNewsArenaGh.com during the 2022 Mid-Year Performance Review Meeting on the theme: "Strengthening institutional systems, improving service performance and attaining excellence in maternal and child health delivery in the midst of COVID-19 pandemic, the role of stakeholders" held at Ajumanko in the  Central region.

Various presentations were made by UEW Clinic - Ajumako, Baa Salvation Army Polyclinic, Bisease Sub-district, Ajumako District Hospital among others.

He used the platform and called on our law enforcement agencies to strictly apply the laws without fear or favour to anyone who defiles or rape a teenager in the Ajumako Enyan Essiam District.

Mr Emmanuel Kwaku Sarfo, the interim Director further lamenting the challenges hinted that, the District hospital lacked a morgue, and fence; leading to encroachments on the hospital's land and animal locomotion among others.

He, therefore, appealed to the government, DCE, Rev Emmanuel Ransford Kwesi Nyarkoh, MP for the area, Hon Cassiel Ato Baah Forson, philanthropists and other benevolent bodies to come to their aid and curb the canker.
