Residents of Elmina Zongo, a suburb situated within the Komenda Edina Eguafo Abream (KEEA) Constituency in Central Region of Ghana have expressed a massive fear following the recent research conducted by the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research at the University of Ghana (Lagon) which reveals locally prepared drink 'Brukina' which for years has seen many Ghanaians enjoy it to contain a cancer-causing substance.

The research which has for days now sparked major upset between Ghanaians as many are of a view the research considering it's timing will bitterly contribute to destroying the job of those (especially our zongo ladies) who heavily depend on the selling of this 'Brukina' to fend for themselves and family as their occupation.

Meanwhile the research specifically depicts the millet and dairy milk used in the preparation of this Brukina drink to contain some level of unacceptable aflatoxins which can cause cancer after continuous intake.

Speaking in a one-on-one interview to some residents of the Elmina Zongo as reports have it the drink originated from our Zongo communities who following the research have been striked with absolute fear told Accra-UK based Rainbow Radio's Central Regional correspondent Eric Annan they will from now onwards drastically reduce their intake of the drink as others expressed worry following the fact that other siblings of theirs who relay on the production and sales of these Brukina as their only source of occupation stands to loss alot in the aftermath.
