You Don't Have Audacity To Close Down Schools - GES To Headteachers

The Central Regional Public Relations Officer for Ghana Education Service (GES) Mrs. Cassandra Twum has lamented that, headteachers under Ghana National Association of Teachers, National Association of Graduate Teachers, the Coalition of Concerned Teachers Association of Ghana and Teachers and Educational Workers Union who are currently on a sit down strike not to close down the public schools due to the strike action since it is not within their merit to do so.

Speaking to AfricaNewsArenaGh's Anaafi Kokooto, she explained that, GES has put measures in place to make sure teaching and learning goes on by the help of NABCo Trainees and other National Service Trainees under GES.

She disclosed that, her outfit has not received any information about a closure of any school but will caution any head teacher not to close any school since such action may attract a sanction.

Madam Cassandra Twum then urged the parents of the school children not to stop sending their wards to school upon the strike action since teaching and learning is still in progress.

"Your children will be left behind academically if you allow them to stay at home because of the strike since teaching and learning is still ongoing in our various public schools," she lamented.

She then encouraged each and everyone to report to any GES office if they see a school being locked up in school hours due to the strike action for necessary actions to be taken.
