IMF Bailout: Let's Bow Our Heads In Shame - Missionary

Dr. Daniel Owusu Asiamah

A missionary of the Church of Christ has described Ghana's decision to seek financial bailout from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as shame.

According to him, granted that Covid-19 and the Ukraine - Russia war have had negative impact on most countries' economy, as claimed by the government officials, it beats his imagination why neighbouring Africa countries like Cote D’Ivoire, Burkina Faso and Togo have not gone to seek bailout from the IMF considering the rich and numerous natural resources God has blessed the country with.

Dr. Daniel Owusu Asiamah made the outburst in the latest episode of his weekly YouTube sermons christened "the voice of the Church".

The outspoken preacher attributed the country's decision to seek bailout to bad governance and the corrupt nature of the country's politicians.

“This confirms the corruption on the part of the country's leaders that I have been preaching about from day one. We go for loans almost everyday and the leaders eventually share amongst themselves and their cronies”, the seeming angry preacher said in the video.

The Takoradi Central Church of Christ preacher did not spare his colleague men of God, movie makers and musicians and described them as part of the reason Ghana has reached this current stage.
“It’s not surprising you always see these so called actors and actresses and musicians following these political parties, especially NPP and NDC, vigorously campaigning for them because at the end of the day, they all get big chunk of the monies.

“Sadly, the so called men of God in this country who should at least, if the leaders are going wayward, call them to order with the true word of God, have surprisingly also joined the corrupt politicians stealing the State's money meant for the entire population.... so in this case they don't get the guts to put them on their toes. If not, why would a man of God leave his Bible and go serve on institutional Boards and the so called national cathedral”, the vociferous preacher and proprietor of the Takoradi-based Outreach Africa free Vocational Institute (OAVI) opined and added “all our politicians have become greed and corrupt and this IMF issue is a big disgrace to Ghana”.

Ghana has ran to the IMF for bailout following the instructions from president Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo upon resolution of the cabinet.

Officials of the Fund in early July visited the country to commenced discussions with Ghana's economic managers.

Many Ghanaians fear, amongst the conditionalities, may be cancellation of the government flagship Free SHS program.

This, according to Dr. Asiamah, who led his Takoradi Central Church of Christ congregation to donate GH₵100,000.00 to support the free SHS program in 2019, he prays the conditionalities does not affect the program.

  1. Dr. Dan Owusu Asiamah is very right and may God bless you for always preaching the truth.
Now to the politicians ask yourself that after being a greedy politician what next. God Almighty has been good to us as a nation with all these natural resources but what we are experiencing since independence is unthinkable. Our leaders please we don't hate you it is rather a call on you to act accordingly so that the God who brought us into this nation called Ghana may be happy and bless you. Don't depend on only the material things but also seek for the eternal life that is in Christ Jesus.
