Chairman for the Central Regional Vetting Commttie who double as the country's Transport Minister, Hon. Kwaku Ofori Asiamah has sounded some words of caution to the region's aspiring New Patriotic Party (NPP) members that have gone through the mill to be vetted yesterday, Wednesday May 18 to vie for various positions in the region to shun away from spreading insults when campaigning to delegates for votes in the party's internal regional elections this year.
The calm but stressful vetting process which came off at the Central Regional Coordinating Council (CRCC) situated in Cape Coast started at a commencement time of 9:00am but ended around 7:30pm in the evening, as supporters for various aspiring members trooped to the location to rally encouragement and support behind their respective aspirants.
Hon. Ofori Asiamah who hails from Dominase in the Upper Denkyira West District, and as such an indigene of the Central Region after the one-day vetting process upon addressing the media took to the opportunity and adviced the 30 abled aspiring members of the region saying;
"If you want to lead a nation or a crowd, one thing you must desist from as a person is insults, because it won't help you improve on what you can do," he noted.
"Aspirants should rather go out there and propagate to delegates what they can do to better the region and the party NPP as a whole when voted to power, because I don't think if you go out there to spread false and reputation denting rumours about a colleague party member all in the name of winning elections will later let you to feel good to even enjoy your position," he added.
"If one goes to insult another, who also comes in to jab back with same insults wouldn't help us [the party] get the efficiency of what we are doing."
"Things of such nature that has dearly caused the NPP as a political party over the years has decided to put all of such things behind us. Hence aspirants are encouraged to go tell the NPP delegates, who for me thinks are very decending what they can do for them, so that we can all come back together again after the elections to work for the party," the honourable Minister advised.
Balloting, together with date and venue for the election according to the vetting commttie is yet to be finalized, and will be made available to the general public immediately after meeting with the party's National Elections Committee as their party constitution requires of them to do.
The committee's remarks and recommendations on the aspirants is noted to be submitted to the party's election commttie on Thursday, May 19,2022.
