The Central Regional Police Commander, D.C.O.P Mrs Habiba Twumasi Sarpong has today brief fact on the murder and robbery at Kasoa Opeikuma Junction.
On 31st March 2021 at 9:30am, the Kasoa Divisional Command received report that a 45 year old man has been shot dead by an unidentified male suspect, who was a pillion rider on a motor cycle, close to the Opeikuma Junction traffic light Kasoa.
The police proceeded to the crime scene, found the victim and rushed to the Kasoa Poly-Clinic, where he was pronounced dead by the medical doctor.
Initial investigation conducted by police revealed that, two men where on a black royal motor bike packed at the Opeikuma Junction traffic light and a pillion rider on the same bike, attacked the deceased who was coming from the opposite direction of the road, collected some brown envelope he was holding and shot him on the chest. The body of the deceased was deposited at the Police Hospital Mortuary for preservation, identification and autopsy.
The deceased was identified later as Mr. Stephen Entsi, a business man who stays at OBOLO Estate at Kasoa. Investigation revealed that, the deceased on the day of the incident was sending an amount of money in an envelope to meet his business partner when he was shot and robbed by the suspects at Opeikuma Junction traffic light Kasoa.
NEW DEVELOPMENT POLICE ACTION.
On 19th April 2021, the Kasoa Divisional Police Command based upon intelligence, arrested suspect Eric Asare (aka Fanta Mogya) at his hideout at Buduburam in connection to the murder robbery of the deceased, Stephen Entsi at Opeikuma Junction Kasoa. Meanwhile the suspects is yet to be put before court.
She also explained that, one Kofi Appiah was arrested over dealing of fake currency on 20/04/2021 at 0900 the Kasoa Divisional CID acted on intelligence and arrested to the Kasoa Divisional Headquarters. Suspect Kofi Appiah (aka Aboagye Dacosta or Nana) together with 10 bundles of fifty CEDI's notes suspected to be fake and reported that on the same date, suspect was arrested from his hideout at Estate Junction, Kasoa.
A search was conducted by police officers on suspect's roofing apartment within his building and the aforementioned exhibits were retrieved. Meanwhile, the suspect is detained for further investigations.
She then states security measures put in place to curb criminals at Kasoa and Millennium Divisions.
More men have been sent to augment the strength of personnel at the two divisions to help with operation. Vehicles, Motor bikes and foot patrols have been identified.
Police in collaboration with opinion leaders are negotiating to form more Community Watch Committees.
Media education/community engagement are ongoing within the two divisions and its environs.
More informant have cultivated to help with information sharing. Mounting of tent cities within the community.
