ACFO l John Amarlai Amartey all teary at the ceremony while offering his address on the deceased fire officer
The Central Regional Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has on Monday 3rd October, 2022 held a one year memorial anniversary for its late colleague, Assistant Divisional Officer ll (ADO 2) Joseph Kabila Baidoo who died whiles on duty at Agona Swedru in the Agona West District.
The deceased fire officer, ADO Kabila, as widely and affectionately referred to in the service, as recorded met his untimely death while in a rescue mission, trying to rescue some three children who only God knows how, but got themselves suffocated in a well.
Joseph Baidoo, 36, helped these children out but unfortunately had himself drown in this well.
Having married with just a girl child, Kabila at the commemoratory grounds at the Central Regional Fire Service headquarters (Pedu-Cape Coast) had his colleague fire officers speak very highly of him as one who wholeheartedly loved his work as a fire officer, and as such, carried out all his duties accordingly without waiting to be told, before suddenly bringing to a halt his 14years of active service in the force.

Passing out on 13th February, 2007 at James Town (Accra) as a fire officer, Joseph Kabila had a minute silence observed with a siren at exactly 11:20am during the program, as the aforementioned time is recorded to be the exact time of his tragic demise, having had October 2, 2021 as the date of his death.
Speaking uncontrollably with tears running all over him, the Region's Chief Fire Officer, ACFO l John Amarlai Amartey doffed his heart out in acknowledgement of the deceased's bravery which led to his death. As he told Accra-UK based Rainbow Radio reporter Eric Annan that the GNFS has through its small contributions gathered, been able to open an educational fund of GH¢15,000 for the deceased's girl child, and as such open its arms to welcome and offer any form of assistance to the bereaved family whenever the need arises.

As he however recalled the selflessness of the deceased fire officer, ADO ll Joseph Baidoo, saying that such are the kind of personnels the force truly needs.
