If Government Can't Reduced Hike in Petroleum Products, Then, Stop Fighting With Our Members - National Chairman To Passengers

The National Chairman of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU), Nana Nimako Bresiamah has expressed a greater worry that, the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has said taxes on petroleum products cannot be reduced, and has called on Ghanaians to hold on to the increase of transport fares.

Speaking to AfricaNewsArenaGh's Adom Nanaa Odiasempa Savvy, Nana Nimako lamented that, the passengers should exercise patience and not to fight with the drivers because the comment made by the President Akufo-Addo; taxes on petroleum products cannot be reduced still holds, and there is nothing GPRTU can do about it.

According to him, hardships are just too unbearable; the cost of living increase each day as many people struggle to cope. Each week people go to the market, they notice prices have shot up but whenever GPRTU increases transport fares, Ghanaians began to complain and likewise they blame GPRTU and its members."

The National Chairman further called on its members especially drivers who plough through Accra-Cape Coast highway to ensure the road safety measures in order to null road traffic crashes. He added that the overwhelming increase in road accidents is partly due to least mistake by the road users.

He also called on the government to dualize Accra-Cape Coast highway.

The National Chairman of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU), Nana Nimako Bresiamah said this in an encounter with Adom Nanaa Odiasempa Savvy when he chaired the celebration of the annual Ahobaakese Festival celebrated by the chiefs and people of Gomoa Akwakrom in the Gomoa West District of the Central region dubbed Saturday, September 4, 2022.
