C/R: Saltpond Oil Field To Be Decommissioned

The Mr. Louie Rig at Kuntu community in the Mfantseman Municipality of the Central Region is ready to be decommissioned by the Ghana National Petroleum Commission and Hans & Co (Oil and Gas Service Providers).

The General Manager of GNPC, in charge of Sustainability and Public Relations, Dr,  Kwame Baah-Nuakoh outlined the current state of the Rig and the need to repair it urgently to save lives and property.

He therefore cautioned the fishermen to avoid getting closer to the rig within 500metres and the 15 affected fishing surrounding communities such as Anomabo, Saltpond, Suprudo, Ekumfi Ekupoano, Hini, Kuntu, Egya No. 1,2,3 among others in the region.

At the function, the Chief of the Kuntu community who doubles as the Acting President of the Nkusukum Traditional Area, Nana Kwesi Brebo III, advised the fishermen to give space for the work to commerce effectively which will be a great benefit to the municipality and Ghana at large.
