C/R: Insurance Companies Donates To Only Surviving Victim Of Aduegyei Gory Car Accident

The National Insurance Commission (NIC) together with Insurance Companies within the Central Region has on Friday 16th September, 2022 offered its generosity towards accident victim, Judith Barnes who happens to be the only survival in the fatal car crash which occured at Aduegyei in the Komenda Edina Eguafo Abrem (KEEA) constituency in the aforementioned region which claimed 12 lives in the process by donating an undisclosed amount of money to the victim's mother.

The gory car crash which took place on Wednesday 3rd August, 2022, had an Articulator DAF Truck with registration number GM 2570-12, carrying 860 bags of GHACEM cements from Tarkoradi on its way towards Cape Coast head colliding with a Toyota Hiace bus with registration number WR 1347- 17 heading to Tarkoradi, which then had 13 passengers on board including the surviving victim, following an avoidable overtaking by the Truck driver who according to reports had an unclear path, having had the smoke of a burning weed besides the road block his sight but was still hell-bent on carrying out his needless overtaking no matter what.

Judith Barnes, who got admitted at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital according to information gathered has currently been discharged, pending subsequent surgeries to be carried out on her, having already had both hands and legs undergone series of surgery.

The Commission, which since day one had this donation factored in its two weeks celebration of the it's 'Central Regional Insurance Awareness' program has within the Region philanthropically done a lot to see the betterment of individuals aside it's core mandate of having to regulate insurance companies in the Region, seeing to it that properties of it's citizenry are properly insured, following it's blood donation which comes off annually to boost the region's blood bank, among others.

Receiving the donation on behave of Judith at the NIC's main office in Cape Coast, mother Mercy Aboah remarked her outmost gratitude towards the kind gesture, thanking both the Commission, Insurance Companies within the region and the Accident Victims Support Ghana, led by it's president Rev. Cyril Benedict Crabbe, as she grinded on the opportunity to appeal to the general public to equally come in to help her daughter who haven't been discharged from the hospital still has some outstanding arrears with regards to her medications to be settled at the hospital.

The Central Regional head for the National Insurance Commission, Madam Nicholina Naa Yeye Adumuah equally had her voice heard while speaking in an interview to Accra-UK based Rainbow Radio reporter Eric Annan, made a passionate appeal to commercial drivers in the country to as a sense of urgency drive safe always in other not to contribute to Ghana's ever-rising death toll through car accidents, in other not to render persons incapacitated as Judith Barnes currently finds herself to be.
