Residents of Simiw, a farming community in the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) Municipality of the Central Region, have expressed concern about the total neglect of the provision of social amenities for the people in the area.
The area had been deprived of basic facilities such as telecommunication network, clinic, portable water, accessible roads, durbar ground among others.
"We cannot continue to live in this unkempt environment without any basic social amenities for the people of the area to be proud as Ghanaians," they said.
Speaking to one of the Elders of the community, Opanyin Kofi Atta also expressed concerns on the poor roads linking to community hindering economic growth of the area.
He also hinted on lack of portal drinking water for the residents of Simiw community hence calls on the Ghana Water Company and other stakeholders to extend water supply in the community.
In an interview with the chief of the community, Nana Kwamena Aman-Ano II, lamented that, telecommunication network and accessible roads and portable water are among the major challenges facing the residents in community and urged the authorities to intervene with a immediate effect.
He added that, a school building has been well constructed but not commissioned for usage attributing to low educational standards.
According to him, due to the bad state of the road, it had become very difficult for residents of the area to access other communities.
"Can you imagine the sick being carried at the back of a family member due to the deplorable state of the road?" he asked.
