MTN Records 124 Fibre-optic Cable Cuts In 2022

Mobile Telecommunication Network popularly known as MTN, has expressed disappointment about the persistent fibre-optic cable cuts, which is taking a toll on its operational expenses.

At the MTN media editors and Stakeholders forum, the Western and Central Regional Technical Manager of MTN, Mr. Teddy Hayford Acquah announced that this year alone the MTN company has recorded 124 fibre-optic cable cuts caused by road construction activities, private properties developers, galamsy activities as well as sand winning activities.

"There are a number of challenges we encounter in our quest to provide quality service delivery to our customers and one of the major ones that we have identify is fibre-optic cable cuts," he disclosed.

Mr. Hayford Acquah called on the media to support and cooperate with the MTN company to drive  awareness and sensitation about the fibre-optic cable cuts.
He therefore acknowledged the media's tremendous contributions towards the company’s growth through their reportage.
According to him, MTN Ghana has been engaging the road agencies including the department of urban roads, and Ghana Highway Authority (GHA) since they are keys stakeholders.

"Most of the road construction activities that we see happening along the roads are coming from their outfits so we have started serious engagement with them to address the fibre-optic cable cuts," Mr. Hayford Acquah announced.

The MTN editors forum is an annual programme that brings together editors and other Senior journalists of various media houses including radio, television, newspaper and online.
The media were taken through the company’s various activities, challenges and measures taken to curb the challenges.

The MTN editors forum also creates a platform for management of MTN Ghana to receive feedback from journalists regarding operations of the company.
