Member of Parliament for the Mfantseman Municipality in the Central Regional, Hon. Ophelia Mensah Hayford at the celebration of this year’s Eid-ul-Adha has called on the constituents to celebrate Eid moderately, and also portray the true meaning of Islam.
Hajia Seidatu Ophelia Mensah Hayford as known by the constituents said, a collaborative effort aimed at improving the lives of the people in the constituency.
According to her, Islam stands for peace. "So all activities related to the religion ought to be done in peace and moderation," she stressed.
Addressing the congregation during her visit to the Municipality to mark Eid-ul-Adha on Saturday, admonished the youth against ungodly celebrations and encouraged them to adhere to the teachings of the Holy Quran.
"As we celebrate Eid-ul-Adha, let us do it in moderation to portray the world the true meaning of Islam. Our mandate as Muslims is to live peacefully with one another. We shouldn't be doing things that would tarnish the image of Islam.
Hajia Seidatu further pleaded with the youth against ungodly activities as they celebrate Eid-ul-Adha which is one of the five pillars of Islam mentioned that, activities like Sala Jam, Motorbike racing on the streets and others promote fornication and are 'Haram' to the teachings of the Holy Quran. Called on the parents to monitor the activities of their children in this festive mood.
She added that, the NPP government led by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is doing everything possible to develop the Zongo communities and Mfantseman Constituency, hence, appealed to the congregation to remember her in prayers, the NPP government and Ghana at large to improve the socio-economic lives of the people as the world is faced by the COVID-19 pandemic and Russia-Ukraine war.
The communities she visited include Baifikrom, Mankessim, Saltpond among others.
Mr. Ibrahim A. K. Arkoh Rtd. Senior Missionary Ahymadyyia Muslim Mission in an interview also urged Muslims especially the youth to celebrate this year's Eid- ul-Adha in moderation, be ambassadors of peace and stability to portray the true meaning of Islam.
He assured the Member of Parliament for the Mfantseman Constituency that they shall remember and support her in prayers, adding that, "our request is what you can do for us as Ghanaians, not for yourselves.
The world is indeed facing the challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and Russia-Ukraine war, it's not your fault but Ghanaians are smart people, do not fail us, fight the good fight as Parliamentarians and fix the current economic crisis," he stressed.
Reaching the CEO of Odoom Shopping Mall at Mankessim, Nana Mohammed Odoom said, "as our forefather, Ibrahim obeyed God and was ready to offer his only son Ishmael as a sacrifice to God, let us emulate his sacrificial faith and abide by it."
He also called on Ghanaians to stop blaming themselves but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let their requests be made known to God, he mentioned.
