Ghana's Deputy Minister of Tourism, Acts And Culture, Hon. Mark Okraku Mantey has urged both chiefs and indigenes of the Central Region which forms part of the country's coastal belt to as a sense of urgency try to keep beaches which he describes as the region's gold very clean and with outmost care, as he stressed such is one means of protecting the land's naturally endowed resources.
He made this revelation at the opening day of the Central Expo 2022 held in the Central Regional capital Cape Coast, dubbed "Promoting Trade, Tourism and Investment in the Central Region" when handed over the podium to offer his address on behalf of the Minister of Tourism, Acts And Culture to dignitaries gathered.
The Expo is a strategically organized five day exhibition fair, aimed at showcasing talented but low publicised entrepreneural entities across the region's 23 constituencies and then also serve as a means to encourage investors to patronize the region if the need be for the establishment of a business company, as various exhibitors from these districts were made to showcase some of their crafts for public view, as when last the region saw such business exposure held on it's soil dates back twenty-four (24) years ago, but has this year experienced one thanks to it's Regional Minister, Hon. Justina Marigold Assan.
The Minister in his speech further highlighted it's impossible for one to talk of the country's tourism, arts and culture without making reference to the Central Region, most particularly to it's capital Cape Coast, the main reason why the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo deliberately and strategically staged this year's Independence Day celebration in Cape Coast, as he (Minister) thereby encouraged for all hands to come on desk to help keep the region's seashores which have currently been engulfed with rubbish and human excrete through resident's weird attitude of open defecation clean.
He emphasized these sites (beaches) forms part of the region's naturally endowed resources, hence the need to keep them clean in order to help wet the appetite of potential investors to propel them troop into the region to inject their monies in establishing businesses which by so doing will help reduce the Central Region's high rate of youth unemployment.
Osabarimba Nana Kwesi Atta llMeanwhile, the Paramount Chief of Oguaa Traditional Council, Osabarimba Nana Kwesi Atta ll upon following suit to take up the podium from Hon. Mantey after his speech with the closing remarks assured the Hon. Minister of his plea, as he disclosed efforts have since been put in place to help salvage this unfortunate situation of open defecation and dumping of refuse the seashores are confronted with.
Osabarimba then disclosed, the names of some 42 abled men who will constitute a special task force has already been submitted to the police command for further scrutiny to be deployed to mine these beach sites during the soon to be celebrated 2022 Oguaa Fetu Afahye to arrest culprits of these deed.
Odeefuo Amoakwa Buadu VIIIOn the other hand, President of the Central Regional House of Chiefs, Odeefuo Amoakwa Buadu VIII who equally doubles as the Paramount Chief of Breman Traditional Area speaking at the program on the role chiefs within the region can play to ensure investors are well motivated to come in and invest in the region encouraged them (chiefs) to ensure investors are given problem free lands to enable them enjoy the full serenity the land possesses.
