Sad News: Cape Coast-Twifo Praso Highway Confiscates, Drivers And Passengers Stranded

Information gathered by AfricaNewsArenah's Joel Donkoh has indicated that, Cape Coast-Twifo Praso Highway has been blocked, drivers and passengers are stranded over a collapsed bridge.

The bridge within Jukwa in the Twifo Hemang Lower Denkyira linking Cape Coast and Twifo Praso has been break down after river overflows its bank.

The carving in of the river affected the road, preventing motorists from crossing.

The Surowi river which connects Twifo Praso to some adjoining communities had overflowed its bank, forcing the bridge on the main Cape Coast to Twifo Praso road to collapse.

Assembly Member for Jukwa West Electoral Area, Hon. Isaac Mensah Snr told AfricaNewAfricaNewGh's Joel Donkoh that, the rains started around 5pm on Friday, leading to the collapse of the bridge.

Several houses along the stretch have been destroyed as a result of the rain including the Manson of the CEO of Exim Bank Hon. Lawrance Kwabina Agyensam

“This is the first time we are having such rains, and it has destroyed a lot of properties in this area, including the bridge. I was asleep when I had a call that the rains had destroyed several buildings and properties as a resident of this community, this is the first time I am witnessing such rains."

Persons who are commuting to the Kakum National Park from Cape Coast have had difficulty getting there as a result of the bridge, which had Confiscated.

Officials of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) are in the area trying to ensure the safety of persons in the area while trying to find a solution for persons trying to commute to the other end of the road.

Motorists travelling between Cape Coast and Twifo Praso are therefore advised to use Cape Coast–Yamoransa (N1)-Assin Fosu l–Twifo Praso (N81) road as the authorities mobilize to solve the problem as soon as possible.

The Assembly Member said portions of the house of the Denkyira Queen Mother has also been destroyed.
