C/R: Postponed NPP Annual Delegates Conference Held, Massive Shocks Pulled

The New Patriotic Party's (NPP) postponed Central Regional Annual Delegates Conference came off on Saturday, 5th June,2022 at the Dunkwa-On-Offin Nursing and Midwifery Training College, in the Upper Denkyira West District of the Central Region, amid a Cape Coast High Court injunction which necessitated the election's initial call-off.

The conference as previously issued by the political party was slated to hold on Friday, 27th May,2022 at the aforementioned election grounds, but saw an unfortunate halt a day to the scheduled event due to an application for interlocutory injunction filed at the Cape Coast High Court by the some aggrieved party members within the Ekumfi Municipality, depicting their displeasure over their District's unfair prevention from voting to elect their District executives by the Regional Chairman, Mr. Robert Kutin Junior during the Region's General District Elections, with regards to some unfortunate comments passed by some party members within the Ekumfi District according to the chairman, which bothers on tarnishing his image.

The election prior to it's day of climax, saw 30 aspirants vying for 10 different positions vetted. Who were then pruned to 28, having Ahmed Siiba-Adams and Joseph K. Donkor who were both vying for the position of Nasara Co-ordinator and 1st Vice Chairman respectively disqualified.

The highly anticipated elections which saw a strong contention in the Chairmanship position, had incumbent Mr. Robert Kutin Junior, Dr. Joseph Kobina Essibu (CEO for Ideal College) and Dr. Alfred Kojo Thompson (Former NIB Deputy Managing Director) all vie for the position, as at the end the incumbent retained his position as the Region's Chairman going into the 2024 general elections, having polled 237votes out of the total votes casted, as against his close call rival Dr. Joseph Kobina Essibu's 195 of votes polled.

Hon. Anthony Kwesi Sackey, MASLOC Manager for the Central Region, who happens to be the region's immediate past Youth Organizer also pulled a number of 299votes having faced a strong opposition in Francis Ejaku Donkoh who pulled 147votes to be elected as the current Central Regional Organizer, as both Mr. Richard Takyi-Mensah and Abubakar Osman, affectionately known as BUBA retained their positions as the Regional Secretary and Nasara Co-ordinator respectively.

The election had a total number of 454 voters decide the fate of 28 aspirates who vied for 10 different positions.
