Amid the celebration of the 2022 World Menstrual Hygiene Day, the Queen mother of Ekumfi Swedru who also doubles as the Director of Ena Kare Foundation, Nana Adwoa Enyinfuaa III has yesterday, May 27, 2022 donated sanitary pads to students of Akyin Senior High School at Ekumfi Akra in the Ekumfi District of the Central region.
Health officials engaged the students on how to maintain personal hygiene and menstrual care, the merits of leaving a chaste life. They also highlight the importance of menstrual care which aims to raise awareness about the social issues and challenges faced by women during menstruation.
As the day also highlights how many women don't have access to sanitary products and care, and as part of the social corporate responsibility of the unprofiting organization led by Nana Adwoa Enyinfuaa III donated sanitary pads to female students as girls empowerment is the ultimate aim of Ena Kare Foundation.
They encourage the young ones to prevent themselves from early sex and urged them to focus on their education.
The theme for the World Menstrual Hygiene Day 2022 is: “To create a world where no woman or girl is held back because they menstruate, by 2030.”
Everyone has access to and can afford menstrual products of their choice. Period stigma and social discrimination is history. Everyone has basic information about menstruation, including men and boys. Everyone can access period-friendly water, sanitation and hygiene facilities anywhere in the world.
“This means a world where every girl or woman is empowered to manage her menstruation safely, hygienically, with confidence and without shame,” the official website said.
The beneficiaries thanked and expressed their heartfelt appreciation to Nana Adwoa Enyinfuaa III, the Queen mother of Ekumfi Swedru and the organizers for the gesture.
