In a Press Conference held at the Mfantseman Municipal Assembly after visitation to the site has proven that, what Captain Smart said on Onua TV, "We've given away our lithium for next to nothing" escalating over the media space is a totally falsehood.
The Municipal Chief Executive for Mfantseman, Hon. Kenneth Kelly Essuman in a Press Briefing emphasized that, there is no mining activity ongoing in the Mfantseman Municipality.
"We have gone to the site to see that Iron Ridge Resources is not doing any mining activity in the Mfantseman Municipality. They have not been given any license by the government of Ghana to do any mining activity, so, there is no mining activity going on in this Municipality."
He added that, "they are prospecting, the misinformation in the media space that the Government of Ghana has sold our Lithium deposit wealth $150bn to Iron Ridge Resources of Australia is false"
Hon. K. K. Essuman reiterated that, the statement pronounced at Onua TV, "We've given away our lithium for next to nothing' is a falsehood. Nobody has even quantified or given the value of Lithium in the area they are talking about.
The Iron Ridge Resources is still prospecting and they have all the information on their website."
"Again, another Professor claiming that Joy Transportors has sold $155bn deposit of Lithium to Iron Ridge Resources is also a falsehood. Joy Transportors is a company that has acquired some portions of land in the Mfantseman Municipality and their sole aim is to mine Valspar Slate Stones," he stressed.
Honourable Municipal Chief Executive added that, Iron Ridge Resources has the required permit from the Minerals Commission and the Mfantseman Municipality Assembly which allows them to continue with their prospecting.
He indicated the that, "the Mankessim license number is RL3/55, Mankessim South license is PL3/109 and that of Saltpond is P3/102, and that is the areas own by Joy Transportors".
The Mfantseman Municipality Assembly is therefore calling on the general public to disregard the statement being made at Onua TV.
