A Speeding Vehicle Run Over Two Pupils, One In Critical Condition

Residents of Mankessim in the Mfantseman Municipality have expressed greater worry to the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Kenneth Kelly Essuman and the Ghana Railway Authority over a situation they describe as a punishment from the authorities to the natives of Mankessim as another speeding Toyota Landcruiser crushed two pupils of Ayesha Islamic School when they were on their way to school.

The victims aged 9 and 13 years (boys) sustained serious injuries.

Narrating how the incident happened, the Assembly member of the area, Mohammed Ekow Arthur told the media that the speeding vehicle with siren blurring was heading towards the Volta Bar Junction where a heavy traffic had built up.

According to him, a taxi driver stopped the V8 driver to pave way for the school Pupils to cross the road but the drivers failed to stop hence ran into the pupils.

One of them is recieving treatment at Mankessim Roman Hospital while the other has been transferred to Cape Coast Teaching Hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, some angry Mankessim Youth have called on the Municipal Chief Executive for Mfantseman Municipality Hon. Keneth Kelly Essuman to ensure the construction of speed rumps on the Mankessim to Saltpond highway to avoid deaths.

According to them, failure of the MCE to construct speed rumps will compel them to stage a massive demonstrate against him as they cannot look on for people to die through accidents.
