20TH  SEPTEMBER 2022

PRESS RELEASE BY ALLIANCE OF DRIVERS, GHANA

WE CALL ON THE GOVERNMENT TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE FUEL PRICE INCREMENTS

The recent fuel and diesel increment is a major concern to drivers and the ordinary Ghanaian. There has been major calls on government to reduce or scrap some taxes on petroleum products .

The question we ask is why all this sudden increments?

It is not easy for every Ghanian at this point as this increment has contributed immensely to the increase in general prices of goods and services. Businesses are suffering, passengers and drivers are fighting on a daily basis because the latter is always adjusting transport fare upwards.

The life we live now is a struggle we therefore urge the government to consider this plea and offer some intervention for correct this unwelcome condition. We believe it can be done and be done we'll.

However by this release, we expressly for any union, group of drivers or any individual to single handedly increase the price of transport fares without the consent or the authorisation of the Transport Ministry or the government.

Any union behind this barbaric act does not have any legal capacity to do so hence all drivers and passengers must resist any attempt by any person to increase transport fare.

Let's all have the country at heart and work together to raise the name of this country high.

Our best regards

Thank you.

........Signed.....

ALHAJI YAHYA ISIAKA
