Bono Regional Minister, Hon. Justina Owusu Banahene At The CCOD 4th Graduation And Matriculation Ceremony
"Life is the most troublesome assessment. Many individuals fizzle since they attempt to duplicate others, not understanding that everybody has an alternate inquiry paper." You can gain from others, however, don't duplicate them. This was a piece of advice shared by the Bono Regional Minister, Honorable Justina Owusu Banahene to 107 graduands of the College for Community and Organisational Development (CCOD) during its 4th Graduation and Matriculation Ceremony in Sunyani in the Bono Region over the weekend.
Delivering her address, she urged both graduands and matriculants to be aware of the way that life is not simply one more capability, a task, or cash. According to her, they will soon appreciate that with the University degree one may still be so much reliant and dependent on people they never considered will matter of their life, therefore urge them to be humble.
They knew what life implied. Gordon B. Hinckley once said and he quoted: "Being modest means perceiving that we are not on earth to perceive how significant we can turn out to be, however, to perceive how much distinction we can make in the existence of others."
To prevail in daily routine or to experience a Christian life, Graduands and Matriculants require mental fortitude. Indeed, mental fortitude is the most significant of the multitude of ethics, because without boldness one cannot rehearse any ethicalness with steadiness. Confidence is the best wellspring of fortitude, she added.
Honourable Owusu Banahene stressed, the theme for the ceremony, “Scaling up OD approach in focus: the success stories.” And said very laudable and appropriate she, therefore wished to urge the CCOD as an institution, to continue to develop innovative and demand-driven academic programmes to meet the needs of industry and the national developmental agenda. Turning matriculants, she reiterated that discipline is one of the prerequisites for career accomplishment and academic success. Irrefutably, it is the discipline that will nurture the character as a professional and so one should regard discipline as an important tool in their journey to becoming more academically and professionally accomplished in the OD consultancy and profession.
On behalf of the Vice-Chancellor of the University for Development Studies, Professor Shamsudeen Ziblim expressed his appreciation to the Management, Staff, and the Students’ Representative Council as well as the entire members of the College for Community and Organisational Development for the success of the ceremony.
According to him, finding a job in this depressed economy is challenging and therefore, urged them to remember that the critical thinking and problem-solving skills coupled with the ability to communicate clearly, are what makes an employee invaluable. He urged CCOD to encourage Innovation and Creativity by instilling a mental framework, a mindset that thinks in terms of deliverables, targets, benchmarks, who is responsible for what action within what time frame, and, most importantly, with what resources and how those resources could be generated.
According to Professor Shamsudeen as an institution, there is the need to continue to develop innovative and demand-driven academic programmes to meet the needs of industry and the national developmental agenda. He admonished the College for Community and Organizational Development as an esteemed institution of higher learning and as a mentor institution. He declared that UDS was proud to see CCOD growing from strength to strength. He was optimistic that CCOD would remain committed to upholding its enabling instruments, including the law establishing the institution, statutes, and other regulations and conventions that guide its operations.
He concluded that the College was established to make a fundamental contribution to the delivery of quality tertiary education in Ghana. The University College should continue to commit itself to set high academic and moral standards and radically transform the educational environment of Ghana, by inculcating high moral standards and imparting UDS values as a mentor institution to students in their integral formation in the course of their University education at the College for Community and Organisation Development CCOD.
