UCC's International Students' Cultural Day & Study Abroad Fair Celebrated In Grand Style

UCC Pro-Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mrs. Rosemond Boohene, in a speech to kick-start the program

Ghana's prestigious tertiary institution, University of Cape Coast (UCC) has this year celebrated it's foreign students in grand style at the school's International Students' Cultural Day & Study Abroad Fair.

The event which seize to celebrate culture and diversity and scheduled to come off annually got striked last year by the deadly Covid-19 pandemic and hence had to be called off, following the government's strict Covid restrictions which prevented all public gatherings.

The celebrated funfair which was held today, February 4,2022 at the forecourt of the school's main Library was gracefully attended by the school's Dean of International Studies, Prof. Kwaku Boakye and the institution's newly appointed Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mrs. Rosemond Boohene, whose appointment came last year 24th Novemebr, 2021 but took office early this year on the 1st January, 2022 from incumbent Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dora F. Edu-Buandoh, together with other highly rated dignitaries in the institution.

The colourful and exciting event saw pupil from across the globe (Africa, Asia, North America & Europe) represent their respective countries, showcasing flags of these countries and shared with colleague foreign students the history, cultural and practices of their countries.

Crowning it up with a jaw-breaking cooking competition, which had judges award marks to respective cooks, amid the University Teachers Association of Ghana's (UTAG) strike for almost a month now, halting teaching and learning in the country's tertiary education level, following their poor condition of service.

The Pro-Vice Chancellor, kick starting the program with her opening remarks encouraged the students to associate with colleague foreign students,exchange contacts and learn from them as she did, associating with others foreign students in her time when offering her Master's Degree in Europe, which so helped her as she till date communicates with such students.
