Wofa Sammy was nominated in the Media Reporter of the year category among seven other Media Reporters but won the Television/Radio Media Reporter of the Year Award in the just ended 4th Edition of the Central Media Awards which came off Saturday, February 5, 2022 at the Toppiard Event Centre - Cape Coast organized by E-Zone Network.
Speaking at the event, the Television/Radio Media Reporter expressed his profound gratitude to God for the glory he has bestowed upon him, his Correspondent for Oyerepa TV/FM, Mr. Emmanuel Oduro (Korea) Oyerepa Fm Editor, Mr. Agyemang Duah also the Chief Editor of Oyerepa TV News Room for the opportunity and the trust they had in him.
“I will first of all give thanks to the Almighty God for it his grace that I have been able to get this Glory, and also to Nana Kwamena Wiabo V the Tufohen of Ekon, Mr. Stephen Kweku Dadson, Bismark Brown BB, Ebusuapayin Swanzy, And the wonderful colleagues of Promise Broadcasting, Apostle Amoakoh Stephen of Inner Word of God Ministries and the entire Board of Directors of Promise Broadcasting, it is through their hands that I have reached this far, those who voted for me, Chiefs, Individual Bodies and Assembly Members who supported me, I say Ayekoo may God bless and replenish what you’ve lost because of me,” he lauded.
The seasoned media personality picked the award for the second time on his second nomination in just ended Central Media Awards held in Cape Coast the Regional Capital.
Recounting some of the tough times in his career, Wofa Sammy said among other things, that he received death threats after a broadcast.
He recounted “one night I couldn’t sleep. So, I called my colleagues and we shared experiences on how to handle the psychological challenge I was going through. This award gives me the relief that as long as we seek to expose the ills of society, our work will be rewarded one day.”
The Central Media Awards 2022 (Cema 22) recognizes, celebrates and rewards the contribution of personalities with exemplary vision in shaping the future of Ghana’s media industry especially Central region.
Cema 22 is exclusively designed to bring together all personalities in the Radio, Print, School and Television industry in Central region and this annual event is to also drive the media to strive towards excellence in their total output.
