The Honourable Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Komenda Edina Eguafo Abrem (KEEA) Municipality, Solomon Ebo Appiah Esq, has called on the farmers in the municipality to take advantage of the operationalization of the Komenda Sugar Factory (KSF) to venture into sugarcane plantation.
According to him, the factory had commenced operations and had been buying raw materials from farmers.
“...by God's grace the Komenda Sugar Factory has come so this is good news for our out grower farmers in the municipality. As I speak, we are buying sugar canes from farmers so please take advantage of this and venture into that”, he said adding further that the factory “currently buys a tone of the sugarcane for GH₵105.00 so assuming you have a pole [an acre] of sugarcane farm then it means you're going to get 60tones multiplied by the GH₵105.00 ...it's not a small money so this is good news”.
Mr Ebo Appiah made this when addressing chiefs and people of Benyadze, a farming community and suburb of Eguafo in the Municipality during the celebration of their this year's annual Nyeyi festival over the weekend.
He further assured the people that the cocoa road construction that had been commenced in the area would be completed in no time.
The theme for this year's festival, according to the chief of the community who doubles as the Nyimfahen of Eguafo Traditional Council, Nana Kwamina Wi II, was to raise funds to extend the pipe borne water services in the community to the other parts.
