DKT International Observes World Contraceptive Day In A Grand Style

World Contraceptive Day (WCD) is celebrated on September 26 of every year by reproductive health organizations to create awareness on some sexually transmitted diseases from unprotected sex or how to separate the birth.

World Contraceptive Day campaign centers on a vision where every pregnancy is wanted, a mission to improve awareness of contraception and to enable young people to make informed choices on their sexual and reproductive health.

To mark the occasion in Ghana, DKT International, Ghana, an NGO that provides family planning and reproductive health products such as condoms and pills, joined other organizations in Techiman Bono East Regional capital to create awareness through a float along the principal streets in Techiman.

They used the occasion to raise awareness on family planning and how to prevent unwanted pregnancies among young females, as well as sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in the community.

Mr. Fredrick K. Mensah Senior Sales Manager for DKT International in an interview with Classic FM News admitted that most women do not know how to plan the number of children they want have and how to prevent unwanted pregnancy.

He also hinted that, the number of HIV AIDS positive cases recorded is at a high rate and these contraceptives will help reduce it drastically. He urged women especially the youth to always request their men to wear condoms before having sex with them.

Reaching some of the beneficiaries of the awareness expressed excitement and they urged their fellow women to always use contraceptives to avoid unwanted pregnancy and also to prevent STIs.
