Following the road traffic and crashes in the Mfantseman Municipality, especially Mankessim, the Municipal Assembly has held a stakeholders' engagement meeting to undertake a decogestion exercise.
The drivers also lamented on how the tricycle riders sometimes conduct themselves causing road traffic and crashes.
Mankessim Divisional MTTD Commander, Mrs Betrice Sintim Koree also hinted on the road traffic challenges which led to the introduction of Spot Fine but drivers intentionally pick up passengers where these signs are.
"Do not pick passengers at the forecourt Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB), Opportunity Bank and Ama Jessica Ventures respectively, but you can adopt pick and go directive at the Stanford Hospital and First Allied Bank to avoid any inconvenience," she stressed.
The MCE, Hon. Ike Lord Ennu on his part pleaded with the traders to go by the directive adding that, "the station is for the drivers not traders; whenever I attend meeting/workshop, my attention is always drawn to the road traffic situation at Mankessim Roundabout which is uncalled for, but now, let me use this opportunity to commends the Divisional MTTD Commander, Madam Sintim Koree and her team for the work done."
He further gave an ultimatum of a week to demolish any tent causing traffic at the Cape Coast Station. "Allow and support the Assembly to do the work," he urged.
