Head coach of Great Olympics Annor Walker has attributed the poor form of his striker Maxwell Abbey Quaye to his time with the Black Stars at the 2021 AFCON.
Abbey Quaye who was one of the top goal scorers in the Ghana Premier League before he left for the AFCON has not been able to score ever since he returned.
Annor Walker speaking ahead of their Week 23 game against Bechem United said the striker looks rusty due to non involvement at the AFCON.
“As a Coach that brought him up, I think the 2021 AFCON he went with the Black Stars and not playing a game is affecting him, just sitting on a bench and not kicking a ball is why he has lost form. But he’s picking up small and we saw glimpses of that lately”
Abbey had scored seven goals before he left for the AFCON and he’s not been able to add to his tally since he returned.
The goal king race is currently being led by Frank Mbella of Kotoko who has 15 goals.
