Insensitive Hikes In Fuel Prices, Expect 25% Increase In Price
Ghanaian petroleum consumers have been slapped with today, 16th March, 2022 fuel price increases shooting up as follows:
LPG goes up by 23% from ghc140 for a 14.5kg cylinder.
This means a 14.5kg will now go for GH¢172.20. Also,
Super is going GH¢10.72 per litre.
Diesel is going GH¢10.72 per litre.
The cause of this incessant fuel price increments is largely due to the massive fall of the Cedi against other major trading currencies.
The other reason is the increase in World Market price, but it must be noted that crude price increments equally benefit Ghana as well since we also export crude oil.
Indeed, with a daily production of about 150,000 barrels of crude oil, Ghana can do better, given that we own a refinery here in Ghana, which can process some of the crude oil domestically.
From the 2022 budget, the Finance Minister projected Ghana selling its crude at $61 per barrel, based on the current World market price, Ghana is making over a 100% increment in revenues from our crude oil sales thereby realizing a huge windfall.
The Gallant Cadres of NDC insist that something can be done to cushion the ordinary Ghanaian consumer.
The government must be proactive and think outside the box.
Comrade Richard EA Sarpong, Father Casford.
