W/R: National Premix Fuel Committee Ends Tour

The National Premix Fuel Committee embarked on a one week tour of the Western Region to among other reasons engage stakeholders to know their challenges, ensure equitable distribution of premix fuel to all landing beaches, curb illicit trade of premix fuel and principally, to inaugurate landing beach Committees.

Hon. Dennis Percyval Quaicoe, Executive Chairman of the National Premix Fuel Committee, the team inaugurated 44 of the 67 Landing Beach Committees (LBCs) in the region in Sekondi Takoradi Metro, Nzema East, Ahanta West and Shama Districts.

While in the Western Region for the purposes stated above, Chairman Percy engaged MMDCES, fishermen and other unions who count in the fishing industry. 

At Sekondi Takoradi, Chairman and chief fishermen of 9 landing beaches had a close door meeting with the national Premix Fuel Committee members. Their concerns, including diversion of fuel by some individuals to unknown destinations was addressed. NPFC Chairman indicated his resolve to end that menace. 

"Stringent measures have been put in place to curb that canker. Tanker drivers will be monitored by a commissioned Task Force who will be ensuring that loads designated for specific landing beaches reach the right targeted people on time." 

The vision of the team stands uniquely and purposely to touch the base, ensure equitable distribution of premix fuel across the country and deliver quality services to fisher folks in accordance with existing regulations.

Other areas the team visited and ushered Committee members included New Takoradi, Dixcov, Nzema East and Ahanta West.

Mr Dennis Percyval Quaicoe made it clear to all the landing beach Committees that his tenure of office will change the status quo that, the entity shall become a befitting outfit. 
"My vision for the Premix Fuel entity is to make it a befitting outfit. Government spends so much money to keep it running and we, together, must do our part to ensure success is attained."
