The Institute Manager, Engineer Samuel Amegbor Kwashie in his speech disclosed that, VTRI also runs short courses for two weeks to six months in all trains for job seekers, current workers who want to acquire or update their practical skills.

He said, some of the graduates had performed so creditably that the VTRI could not allow it to go unnoticed and, therefore, decided to award some of them.

Mr Amegbor Kwashie advised the graduates to continue to be guided by the virtues of hard work and integrity, which had been instilled in them, adding they must conduct themselves well and lift the banner of VTRI high wherever they would find themselves.

The Institute Manager further lamented that, as a growing TVET, it continued to battle with teething challenges, prominent among which were high level of parental neglect; this manifest in the various forms such as nonpayment of fees, some parents failure to monitor and discipline wards and deep interest to monitor the academic performance of their wards and this intend to affect the trainees performance, high dropout rate from on the job training as a result of financial difficulties faced by trainees, risk crossing of the highway to the Central and North campus of Institute and staff accommodation and office space constraints.

He therefore called on the stakeholders as soon as practicable to address the challenges before they escalate and lives are lost.

In a speech read by the Ghana's first Director General of TVET Service, Mrs Mawusi Nudekor Awity reiterated that, "the biggest TVET intervention ever; TVET is going to be free from January, 2022 for all new entrance. That also means that all TVET schools will be available on the Computerized School Selection and Placement System. The Free TVET policy comes to make TVET accessible to anyone who so wishes."

The graduates were told, the acquisition of academic qualification was one thing and using the acquired skills, knowledge and set of attributes for transforming society and making the world a better place for humanity, another.

She also urged them to live up to that expectation of the society to justify the heavy investment government had been making generally in education and particularly in TVET.

Director General of Ghana TVET Service, Mrs Mawusi Nudekor Awity advised the graduates to go into the world not only to make a living but to make a difference.

A citation of honour was presented to honour the First Director General of Ghana TVET Service, Mrs Mawusi Nudekor Awity for her stellar passion, leadership and demonstration of unparalleled commitment to the promotion of TVET in Ghana.
