The Central Regional Deputy Communication Officer (CRDCO) for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Comrade Lawrence Kwesi Ghartey has made a shocking revealation that, the MMDCEs' list was not made by the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and that is why he refused to attach his name and signature.
According to Comrade Ghartey, he does not understand the condition behind the whole show that, H. E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo failed to authenticate the list of MMDCEs with his name and signature, hence, "the President is not taking Ghanaians seriously and he is disrespecting the constitution".
He further disclosed that, "I have not seen any list of MMDCEs appointee by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. Article 243 (1) of Ghana’s 1992 Constitution and Section 20(1) of the Local Governance Act 2016, (Act 936) stipulates that 'there shall be a District Chief Executive for every district who shall be appointed by the President with the prior approval of not less than two-thirds majority of members of the Assembly present and voting the meeting," he reiterated.
"Must I wait to accept an appointment letter of someone from the office of the President who claims he has been assigned to work with or for me without the name and officail signature of Nana Akufo-Addo? What authenticate the document to that effect?
Although the news came all over that, President has officially submitted the list of MMDCE nominees to Hon. Dan Kweku Botwe, the Minister for Local Government Decetralisation and Rural Development, but are we governing by the news or law?" Mr Ghartey Quizzes.
"Have you seen any list with the President's official signature? Has Nana Akufo-Addo appointed anyone? Because the only thing that will authenticate the MMDCEs' list is either Nana Akufo-Addo's name or his signature," he stressed.
Comrade Lawrence Kwesi Ghartey has therefore called on the President, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to officially come out with the long awaiting list of MMDCEs' nominees, check indiscipline attitude among his appointees and should also tackle the unemployment rate in the country.
