NATIONAL DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS (NDC)
CENTRAL REGIONAL COMMUNICATIONS

For immediate release

Our attention has been drawn to a publication by a private newspaper, The Hawk, in which Mr Richard Takyi Mensah, the NPP Central Regional Secretary has been cited for aiding in massive corrupt deals that have brought the School Feeding Programme  to its knees in the Region.

We call on the Police Criminal Investigations department to swiftly arrest and prosecute the NPP central regional secretary over the fraudulent school feeding  deals.

Mr.Takyi Mensah, per the records available, was awarded a contract to feed the Ekurabadze Tayido M/A Basic School in the A.A.K District of the Central Region but strangely, the E-zwich number- 267790029-4 owned by one Cynthia Johnson received an unearned amounts of money on behalf of yet another non- existing caterer named in the report as Christiana D. Quist.

By this fraudulent action,  NPP's Takyi Mensah and other NPP functionaries such as David Essandoh alias SamToys of Agona Swedru, has managed to collect from the government an amount of GHc378,470 meant to feed school children in Mfantseman, Assin Central, Agona West and other parts of the Central Region.

While the Akufo-Addo government has willfully supervised the collapse of the Ghana School Feeding Program (GSFP) across the country, we find it disturbing that a regional secretary of the ruling party, who professes to seek the interest of Central Region can have the effrontery to so callously hurt the collective welfare of this Region. We know the impediments that government has been putting in the way of justice delivery in the country since 2017 but we are convinced that the cries of the suffering pupils and their parents would energize the police into action. No child should be allowed to starve because a party executive has the need to fill his bulging pockets.

We call on all civil society organizations in the Region and elsewhere, the Clergy, the media and indeed the citizenry, to call for action against Mr. Takyi Mensah and all others engaging in these acts of public theft.

May we wake up in the days to come to witness a working Ghana where no child stays out of school because of the  continuous corruption of  scandals of the NPP.

Thank you.
