C/R: NCCE Organize Youth Activist Workshop On Secessionism & Violent Extremism

The Mfantseman Municipal National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in collaboration with the Ministry of National Security has organized a day youth activist workshop on "Secessionism and Violent Extremism Programme" at the premises of SS Peter and Paul Anglican Church, Saltpond, the Municipal Capital.

As part of planned nationwide activities by NCCE to promote National Cohesion and Peaceful Co-existence across the country, the Mfantseman Directorate of the NCCE has taken a day youth activist workshop on the above mentioned subject with focus on Secessionism and Violent Extremism.
The Municipal Director Ms. Judith Adomako-Ofosua in her welcome address referred that, "the youth is the future leader of this nation and the teachings still reminds us to be loyal and faithful to Ghana our motherland, to uphold and defend the good of Ghana as being stated in the national pledge". 

She also added that, "the good news must be preached to the world and let's protect the constitution of the land in order to free ourselves from any secessionist and extremist attach".

Speaking at the programme, the representative of the Ghana Police Service, Saltpond, DSP Emmanuel Kwaw on his statement stressing on the Grievances handling procedures - Public Order Act, Vigilantism  and Related offences Act, 2009 (Act 999), ADR Mechanisms), warned the youth to be extra careful about betting companies for it will profit them nothing but urged to engage themselves in order self employed business since about 48% of the youth are unemployed, report has revealed.

The Ministry of National Security representative, Mr. William Barfi Mensah during his presentation also hinted on the National Security and the national framework for countering violent extremism and terrorism in Ghana, emphasizing on the preventing violent extremism revealed that, "you must always run for your life and you must report any suspect of Secessionism and Violent Extremism to the appropriate quarters,'' he urged.

The Deputy Regional Director of National Commission for Civil Education (NCCE), Alhaji Aliyu Mohammed speaking on the National Cohesion and Peaceful Co-existence as Important Aspect of National Development elaborated that, ''the threat to our National Cohesion is not only caused by the national leaders being it political, religious or Traditional.
We need to lay aside favouritism, ethnicity, nepotism, because being united will help achieving a common goal through peace"

He stated that, as a citizen, you have to play great emphasis on loyalty, concern of good image, among others as he quotes Article 4(1), 37(1), 35 (Clause 5,6) and also hinted on the NCCE theme for the year which goes 'We Are One, Ghana First.
