President Akufo-Addo in an attempt to fight against 'galamsey' has deployed Operation Halt to burn excavators found in any mining site.
The Acting President of Nkusukum Traditional Council, Nana Kwesi Brebo (III) has today commends the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on his initiative to combat illegal mining ('galamsey') through the burning of the excavators which is affecting the water bodies, lands, forest and other properties.
Nana Brebo (III) made this statement in an interview with the media on "Green Ghana Project" - 'Let's Go Planting 5 Million Trees In 1 Day' at the premises of the ongoing new Magistrate Court at Saltpond in the Mfantseman Municipality of the Central Region.

The Member of Parliament for Mfantseman Municipality, Hon Ophelia Mensah Hayford also applauds the President on his initiative in fighting galamsey as Green Ghana project takes off today.

The Municipality Chief Executive for Mfantseman Municipality, Hon Kenneth Kelly Essuman in his address said, 5200 seedings is expected to be planted which include Mahogany, Acacia, among others.
He further stated that, coconut trees are to be planted along the sea especially at the beaches in the Municipality.
