The allegation coming from the disappointed Patapaa regarding his failure to clinch any award at VGMAs, where he had tipped himself to walk away with awards, claims Charter House has taken "stupid" money.
Initially refusing to comment, but prodded to speak his mind, he went berserk, accusing Charter House of bias, alleging they took some “stupid” money from Fancy Gadam before giving him the award he thinks Gadam didn’t deserve.
He further cautioned the organizers of VGMA to expect a controversial song from him as to why he did not win the popular song category in the event.
Patapaa stormed out of the auditorium of the AICC in anger and disappointment over his loss of “his award” for the most popular song of the year to Tamale-based hit-maker Fancy Gadam who is very popular in the three Northern regions of Ghana.
Prior to the event, he is reported to expressed his optimism about winning the award for the ‘Most Popular Song of The Year’ category.
Speaking to the media, he said that “My ‘One Corner’ hit track will win the Most Popular Song of The Year at the 2018 VGMAs", he emphasized.
To the surprise of a cross-section of Ghanaians, Fancy Gaddam’s ‘Total Cheat’, which featured Sarkodie, claimed the coveted prize.
Patapaa who hails from Agona Swedru in the Central Region, rose to fame in the year 2017 with his song ‘One Corner.’
"My one corner hit track will win most popular song of the year in next year’s VGMA’s,” he insisted in many interviews.
The One Corner song went viral and Patapaa was very confident it was going to win an award, at least he was tipping to grab the most popular song of the year awards. But he left the awards venue disappointed.
