Custodians of the Ohwimasi Anglican cemetery in the Kwadaso district of the Ashanti region are expressing concerns over the invasion of some unknown workers into the heart of the burying ground without their consent.
The custodians were worried at the condition behind the whole issue that some unknown workers including auto mechanics, carpenters, washing bay operators and others are massively taking possession of the active burying ground.
Disclosing this to Africa News Arena reporter, Dawud Zul-keyful during an interview, The parish priest of the Ohwimasi diocese of the saint Francis society of the Anglican church, Rev. Canon Isaac Opoku-Twumasi said, the land was deliberately reserved for the burial of the church’s dead priests.
He condemned the activities of these invaders stressing that it was not appropriate for them to allow any ‘parasite’ to interfere with their plans. ” I was transfered to this place not long ago only to come and meet the burying ground in this state” he stated.
The priest emphasised that he do not know how they managed to acquire those portions of the cemetery, explaining that he is yet to discern into the matter.
Rev. Twumasi also described the magnitude at which workers are invading the place as very worrisome, adding that they are considering measures to soon construct concrete walls to serve as a border for future intruders.
Meanwhile, some of the invaders argued that, they acquired the land from previous priests of the church whiles others also announced that, it was given to them by the chief of Ankaase traditional area.
They therefore challenged the chief and his authorities to bring it on, since they are very confident with how they managed to acquire the land.
"We do not fear whatsoever over him claiming to build a border, he knows the boundaries he’s talking about”, they dared.
